New online case study library of sustainable development initiatives
The Sustainable Development Research Network (SDRN) has launched its new library of real world examples of innovative sustainable development initiatives.
The aim of the database is to collate evidence in a concise and accessible format for policy-makers, researchers and practitioners working in sustainable development. The case studies, which will be added to over time, are drawn from research, community or business-led initiatives and have been chosen to cover the range of current government policy priorities for sustainable development.
Each short case study in the database seeks to briefly convey the aims, background and nature of the initiative, the activities under way and, where available, the key challenges and critical success factors identified by those engaged in the initiative.
An on-going project, the database will play host to a diverse range of case studies including those related to government priorities in the areas of the green economy, community renewable energy, sustainable local transport, local food production, environmental restoration and volunteering, waste prevention, wellbeing and equality, environmental education initiatives, and responsible business practice and social enterprise.
The database can be accessed online and will be added to over time so its value to policy-makers and practitioners grows. Do let the SDRN coordinators know of any potential case studies you would like to be considered for inclusion in the library via the online form. More in depth research will be conducted on the most interesting case studies so again let the SDRN team know if there is are interesting sustainable development initiatives you know which would benefit from some research into their approach and achievements.
New case studies will also be included the fortnightly SDRN mailing – sign up to the mailing online – and publicised via the new SDRN twitter feed @PSI_SDRN.
