This Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum keynote seminar will examine the work of the Foresight project on Global Food and Farming Futures, and will take a global view of pressures on the food chain, in the context of economic, environmental and geopolitical uncertainties. The project’s findings are due to be launched on 25 January 2011.

The seminar – to include a keynote address from the project director, Professor Sir John Beddington, Chief Scientific Advisor to HM Government and Head, Government Office for Science – will bring together policymakers and key stakeholders from the food production and agricultural sectors to examine the conclusions of the project, and to consider how its findings might best be used to address challenges around future food supply.

Lord Cameron of Dillington, Co-chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Agriculture and Food for Development will chair part of the seminar. Phil Bloomer, Director, Campaigns & Policy, Oxfam GB; Dr Tom MacMillan, Executive Director, Food Ethics Council and Patrick Mulvany, Senior Policy Advisor, Practical Action and Co-chair, UK Food Group are currently confirmed to speak. Further senior participants are being approached.
